    Overview

What Sonic Blue does, and who it's for

Sonic Blue is the DMV's shared music infrastructure: one directory of artists, venues and service providers, one live calendar, and the booking, ticketing, hiring and community tools that connect them — all in a single account.

    What's inside

    Unified directory

Thousands of regional artists, bands, venues, studios, schools and service providers in one searchable index with type-specific profile tabs.

    Live calendar & events

Post shows publicly or privately, tag performers, notify followers, and keep the regional calendar current.

    Ticketing

Sell tiered tickets from any show page. Buyers can check out as guests; money lands in your own connected payout account.

    Booking workspace

Open gigs and applications, availability, ranked holds, offers, contracts, advancing checklists and offer comparison.

    Services marketplace

Find and pay teachers, engineers, producers, photographers, stagehands, sound and lighting crew — booked and settled in-portal.

    Community

Community wall, comments, follows, tags, real-time notifications, direct messages, fan clubs and points.

    Music & merch

Artist pages carry releases, streaming embeds, playlists, merch items and social links.

    Busking program

Register an act, get an SB-BUSK permit, then claim slots in approved busking zones on a live public schedule.

    Jobs & opportunities

Music work in the DMV: staff roles, short-term gigs and classifieds, aggregated and posted by the community.

    Teaching studio

Teachers track students, lessons, inquiries, notes, earnings and payouts in one place.

    Monthly newsletter

Pitch news, shows, releases and opportunities for the monthly roundup — editors review every submission.

    Team access

Invite co-editors so bandmates, managers and venue staff can all maintain the same listing.

    Artists & bands

One profile that does the booking legwork

Your listing is your press kit, your calendar and your pitch. Keep it current and the rest of the portal works for you.

    • Build a listing led by your performance video — it becomes your thumbnail across the site
    • Choose solo or band, link yourself to your band, and say if you play originals, covers or both
    • Publish availability so venues and agents can see when you're free
    • Find open nights and apply to posted gigs with a one-click application
    • Run a fan club, post updates and reward your top supporters
    • Get paid for gigs by card, straight to your connected payout account
    • Add your manager, booking agent or press contact — their agreed share is split off automatically
    • Add albums, playlists, streaming embeds, merch items and social links to your page
    • Invite bandmates or a manager as co-editors so several people can maintain the listing
    • Book and pay teachers, engineers, stagehands and other services through the portal
    • Collect reviews and show a public star average
    Venues & talent buyers

Fill your calendar without the inbox chaos

Post the nights you need covered, review artists with real evidence, and keep every conversation attached to the date it belongs to.

    • Post open nights and calls for artists, then review applicants in one queue
    • Search talent by genre, draw, location and availability
    • Place and track holds — the calendar flags conflicts before you double-book
    • Send offers, capture signatures and run advancing checklists
    • Read industry notes left by other venues and agents (never public)
    • Sell tickets to the shows you put on — ticket money goes to you as the organizer
    • Pay the artist's guarantee by card from the booking deal
    • Give staff co-editor access so your whole team can manage the venue listing
    • List announcements, jobs, and classifieds right on the community bulletin board
    • Hire sound, lighting and stage crew from the services marketplace
    • Collect reviews and show a public star average
    Booking agents & promoters

Route rooms, artists and offers from one desk

Built for the people juggling several artists across several rooms — with the CRM and comparison tools that job actually requires.

    • Compare competing offers side by side on guarantee, split and net
    • Manage holds across multiple artists and rooms
    • Set up agreements with your artists — a percentage or flat amount of gig pay and ticket sales — and get your share automatically
    • Save directory listings to a personal rolodex and suggest missing ones.
    • Collect reviews and show a public star average
    Service providers

Get found by the people who need you

Studios, engineers, photographers, publicists, teachers and schools all live in the same searchable directory as the artists hiring them.

    • List your services with rates, specialties, photos and gear
    • Collect reviews and show a public star average
    • Answer inquiries through portal messages instead of scattered DMs
    • Show up in searches filtered by role, location and genre
    • Publish bookable services with rates and take paid bookings through the portal — paid lessons and services confirm instantly
    • Managers: set a percentage agreement with your artists and receive your share of everything they earn on the site
    • Add teammates as co-editors so anyone in your shop can respond
    Money

    How fees work

On every financial transaction in the portal — tickets, service bookings, deposits and settlements — two fees are added on top of the base price and paid by the buyer: 5% to DMV Music Alliance. Sellers keep their full base price, less any booking agent cut and card processing fees.

    • You set your price — fees are never taken out of it
    • Buyer pays base price + 5% DMVMA
    • Checkout shows every line before payment
    • Both fee amounts are recorded on each transaction
